Electricity is just the tip of the iceberg. Over half of global final energy consumption is generated by heating and cooling. In addition, the share of renewable energies in this sector remains low at around 11%.
In order to achieve the climate targets, a special focus must be placed on the decarbonisation of heating and cooling. This is being driven by the electrification of the heating and cooling sector and by sector coupling with the electricity sector.
With our compressed air energy storage system, we are promoting precisely this endeavour in medium-sized commercial, industrial and residential buildings. In addition to the electricity storage function, it also provides renewable heating and cooling. The energy storage system can also be used to optimise the operation of a heat pump and integrate it efficiently with a photovoltaic system.
